Craft items for saleProgram: Show & Tell, Bring & Sell, and Meet & Munch

To celebrate our seventh anniversary, the New Year, and the many wonderful years we have spent at Burlington City Arts, our January meeting will combine two favorite BAG winter traditions – our end of year Pot Luck/Swap & Sale, and our January Sharing and Support.

Meet & Munch: Have you ever wondered, “Who was that cool person sitting across from me last month?” or “Where did he/she get those supplies, or learn that technique?” The January meeting will give us some time to find out! We’ll begin the New Year getting to know each other better together and catching up with old friends as we enjoy a terrific pot luck dinner. Last year’s meal was a delicious assortment of appetizers, salads, main dishes, and desserts. So, bring your favorite dish (one that does not need to be reheated) and let’s enjoy a meal and some social time together.

Show & Tell: After the good eats and conversation, let’s share some of our creativity. Bring books arts projects, either in process or completed, as well as challenges, questions, resources (books, magazines, web sites, blogs), favorite tools, sources of innovation, or anything else that inspires or connects you to the book arts. Perhaps you have a project begun at a meeting or in a class or workshop that you could share.

Bring & Sell: Finally, you are invited to bring in items and set up a display for our Fourth Annual Swap & Sale. You are welcome to bring in items that are a result of your own creativity and/or bring in materials that you no longer need, knowing that they will inspire someone else’s creativity (i.e.: art papers, fabric, art supplies, overstock items, book arts materials, magazines, etc.). Decide whether your offerings will be available for swapping for someone else’s goodies and make a sign so designating that. If you have items to sell, make a sign to display your name and the price/sales tax.

Book Arts Guild of Vermont meetingReflections on December’s Meeting

December’s Card Tricks exchange proved to be a very fun evening. Everyone came eager to share in design possibilities. As the cards were show one by one everyone delighted over the various creative tricks and new techniques for card making.

We eagerly exchanged the papers and ideas then folded, stamped, punched and glued a new collection of cards to take home. We are a creative bunch!

You can view images from the meeting on the B.A.G. blog.
